Srinagar:
A trooper was killed and at least three others were injured during an ongoing encounter with militants in the Chaas area of Kishtwar district on Sunday, officials said.
The encounter started early in the morning when a joint team of Police and Army launched a cordon and search operation based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area. The injured troopers were taken to the hospital, and intermittent gunfire continues as both sides remain engaged.
In a separate incident, an exchange of fire is also underway between militants and security forces in the Zarbwan Forests of Ishbar Nishat, Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district. A senior police officer confirmed that a joint team of Police and security forces initiated the operation in Ishbar following specific intelligence.
Both operations are still ongoing.
