The News Craving
Srinagar:
In an ongoing operation in the Sagipora area of Sopore in North Kashmir, two militants were killed during an exchange of fire with security forces that began on Thursday night.
According to a senior police officer, the operation, initially launched following specific intelligence about militant presence, was paused overnight for safety reasons and resumed with the first light on Friday.
During the search, an exchange of fire broke out between the militants and the security personnel, leading to the suspension of the operation for the night. All exits around the suspected hideout were sealed to prevent any escape.
In a separate incident in Kishtwar district, two Village Defense Guard (VDG) members, Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar, were abducted and killed by militants on Thursday. They had gone missing while grazing livestock, and later, images of their bodies appeared on social media. After identification by family members, a joint search operation by police and army was launched in the area.
The Sopore operation remains active, and further updates are expected as the situation unfolds.
