2 rebels killed, 2 troopers injured in Srinagar gunfight

Two rebels were killed while as two paramilitary personnel of Central Reserve Police Force were injured in an encounter at Alamdar Colony, Danmar, area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar on Friday.

Officials sources said that during the gunfight two CRPF personnel were also injured, who have been identified as SI Bupinder Sharma(25) of 21 BN and constable Unish Ahmad Dar (35) of 73 BN. Both where shifted to 92 base hospital for treatment, where their condition is said to be stable.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar, said that two unidentified rebels were killed in today’s encounter. He said that so far seventy eight militants have been killed this year in Valley.

Out of seventy eight rebels thirty nine were from LeT and rest belonged to Hizb, Al-Badr, JeM and AuGH, IGP added.

Meanwhile a joint team of police and other government forces have recovered seven shell and many Pika rounds during a cordon-and-serach-operation in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said on Friday.

Official sources said that based on specific information, police, army’s 42 RR and 180 battalion CRPF launched CASO and found the bullets and the seven shells beneath the ground near Zeyarat Shareef Nowdal Tral.  A police officer while confirming the recovery said that it seems an old cache. “Investigations have been launched,” he added.
