The News Craving

Srinagar:

Four members of a family tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Rajwar village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district late last evening, officials reported on Tuesday.

According to an official, the accident occurred when the family was traveling in a vehicle to fetch water from a nearby source, and the vehicle fell into a deep gorge.

A rescue operation was promptly launched, and the victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.

The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Tahir Ahmad Bhat, Rifat Aara, and Shabnam Aara.

Local residents mentioned that the area has been suffering from a prolonged water crisis, and the family had gone out to fetch water for themselves.

“Had there been a proper water facility, this incident would not have occurred,” locals stated, adding that repeated pleas to the authorities have been ignored.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident. (KNO)
