Srinagar:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s forthcoming visit to Jammu and Kashmir on February 20 is anticipated to mark the inauguration of the highest railway bridge in Reasi, as reported by the Daily Excelsior.
Scheduled alongside a public rally in Jammu, PM Modi’s visit aims to kickstart numerous development projects worth thousands of crores across the region. Among the highlights of his visit will be the distribution of 1.08 lakh appointment letters to youth via video conferencing, spanning various central government departments.
Union Minister of State in the PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh, will oversee the event from New Delhi, with three other Union Ministers designated to distribute letters in Jammu, Srinagar, and Leh.
The itinerary of PM Modi’s visit includes the inauguration of significant projects such as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Vijaypur, the Devika Rejuvenation project in Udhampur, and IIM Jammu, among others. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stones for several other development initiatives.
While the project to connect Kashmir with the rest of India via train is still underway, plans are in motion to extend the service beyond Banihal to Khari. This extension is expected to further reduce the distance between Kashmir and Jammu by rail, facilitating greater connectivity in the region.
