The News Craving
Srinagar:
In a move aimed at enforcing strict measures against the consumption and sale of alcohol, NC MP, Ruhullah Mehdi, has submitted a private member’s bill advocating for the complete prohibition of liquor and intoxicants in Jammu & Kashmir.
Mehdi, known for string views on key issues, took to Twitter to announce his legislative initiative. In his tweet, he expressed his hopes for the bill to be tabled in the parliamentary session. “I am submitting a private member’s bill to enforce, implement and promote the complete prohibition of liquor and intoxicants in the Jammu & Kashmir,” the tweet read.
The proposal comes amidst public outcry over open consumption of alcohol in Srinagar. If passed, the bill would impose restrictions on the production, sale, and consumption of alcoholic beverages across Jammu & Kashmir.
“I also hope I get the support of the fellow Parliamentarians to get this bill passed,” Mehdi further commented.
