Senior BJP leader Sofi Yusuf has revealed the names of five individuals set to be nominated as members of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly by the Lieutenant Governor (LG).
These nominations come just ahead of the government formation in the Union Territory. The five nominated members include prominent BJP figures: Ashok Koul, Rajni Sethi, State Secretary Farida Khan, BJP Chief Spokesperson Sunil Sethi, and Mahila Morcha BJP President Rajni Geeta Thakur, he said.
“They are all ours,” Sofi Yusuf stated, confirming the alignment of the nominated members with the BJP. He added, “We will form the government tomorrow.”
The five individuals to be nominated by the LG have to be from various sections, including Kashmiri Pandits, women, and refugees from Pakistan. Their nomination is seen as potentially pivotal in the formation of the next government in Jammu and Kashmir, giving the BJP a crucial edge in the Assembly.
The role of nominated members is expected to have a significant impact on shaping the new government in the Union Territory. The Congress, National Conference and the PDP have opposed the nomination of the five members before government formation, and threatened to move the Supreme Court.
