Missing TA soldier’s body recovered from Anantnag forests

The body of a Territorial Army soldier who went missing on Tuesday evening from the forest area of Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district has been recovered.

A top police officer told GNS that a massive search operation was launched by the police and army this morning after the Territorial Army soldier went missing yesterday. During the search, his body was recovered today.

The officer further stated that investigations are underway to determine the circumstances leading to the soldier’s death and how he went missing.

He has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Mukdhampora Nowgam, Anantnag.

Earlier, in a post, the Chinar Corps of the Army wrote that based on intelligence input, a joint counter-militancy operation was launched by the Indian Army along with Police and other agencies in Kazwan Forest, Kokernag, on 8 October. “The operation continued overnight after one Territorial Army soldier was reported missing. A massive rescue and search operation is in progress.”
