Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited the fire-ravaged Marwah area in Kishtwar on Thursday, meeting with victims of the recent blaze. He expressed deep sympathy for their plight and assured them of ongoing government support to help restore their lives.
Addressing the local community, Abdullah stressed that it was the government’s responsibility to stand by those affected in their hour of need. “We are here to let people know they are not alone and to help them rebuild their lives,” he said.
The Chief Minister announced plans to expand relief efforts and called for additional assistance from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, highlighting the need for immediate resources to aid in the recovery process.
He also outlined need for aid under the Prime Minister Awaaz Yojana scheme, committing to helping victims rebuild their homes. Responding to concerns about basic amenities like bathrooms, Abdullah noted, “The bathrooms will follow once the houses are built. Our first priority is to give them a roof over their heads.”
Emphasizing the humanitarian nature of his visit, Abdullah made it clear that his focus was on recovery, not politics. “I’m not here for politics; we are here to help people recover from this disaster,” he reassured the residents.
