The annual Urs of the revered Sufi saint Sheikh Noor din Wali (RA), also known as Sheikh Ul Alam, was celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervour in Charari Sharief.
The event drew thousands of people from across Kashmir, with pilgrims gathering to take part in prayers at the grand mosque and the shrine premises.
Pilgrims gathered to observe night long prayers (Shabkhani) on the evening of October 29. This sacred occasion, a key part of the annual festivities, drew thousands of devotees who reflected on the saint’s profound teachings and spiritual legacy.
As a central tradition of the Urs, the sacred cloth (Gilaf) on the saint’s grave was ceremoniously replaced on October 28. On October 30, afternoon prayers united devotees from all over Kashmir in an atmosphere filled devotion.
The Urs celebrations will conclude on November 1.
