Freezing temperatures continue to grip Kashmir as the mercury plummeted further across the region, intensifying the winter chill.
Anantnag and Shopian recorded the coldest temperatures at -8.9°C, followed by Sonamarg at -7.7°C. Other areas, including Srinagar, Qazigund, and Gulmarg, also witnessed harsh cold conditions with minimum temperatures dropping well below freezing.
In the Jammu region, temperatures remained cold but less severe. Jammu recorded 4.9°C, while Banihal dipped to -3.4°C. Padder reported one of the region’s lowest temperatures at -8.3°C.
Ladakh experienced extreme cold as well, with Kargil freezing at -12.5°C and Leh recording -8.8°C. Zojila reported the lowest temperature in the region at a staggering -23.0°C.
With winter tightening its grip over the northern Himalayan belt, the biting cold is expected to persist in the coming days.
