In an unexpected shift in Kashmir’s weather dynamics, Pulwama has recorded temperatures colder than the popular tourist destination, Pahalgam. The winter cold wave gripping the region has intensified, with several areas across the Valley experiencing their coldest nights of the season.
Coldest Spots in the Valley:
- Pulwama: -9.5°C
- Pahalgam: -8.2°C
- Shopian: -10.0°C
- Srinagar: -6.2°C
These readings highlight a surprising trend: Pulwama, traditionally not considered as cold as Pahalgam, has now surpassed it in frigid conditions.
Region-Wide Freeze
Srinagar shivered at -6.2°C, marking its coldest night of the season. Other areas also witnessed a steep drop:
- Gulmarg: -6.0°C
- Qazigund: -7.6°C
- Kupwara: -6.5°C
In South Kashmir, Anantnag reached -9.9°C, closely followed by Larnoo at -9.1°C. Meanwhile, the coldest temperature across the Valley was recorded in Shopian at -10.0°C.

Across Ladakh, the mercury plunged further:
- Leh: -11.8°C
- Kargil: -13.8°C
No major weather activity is predicted until December 31, allowing the current cold spell to dominate.
