The News Craving
Srinagar:
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah commended the Power Department and the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department for their swift response to the recent snowfall that disrupted essential services across the Valley.
In a social media post, Abdullah highlighted the efforts of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) in addressing electricity outages caused by the heavy snowfall. “The Power Department did a remarkable job dealing with the outages. These numbers tell the complete story. The supply of electricity dipped drastically between 4 AM and 10 AM as the system was hit by the snow. From 10 AM, the demand started recovering as the system was brought back online and the damage repaired,” he wrote.
He also praised the R&B Department for their timely action in clearing snow from roads and lanes. “The R&B Department moved quickly to open the main roads and then, as per the schedule of priority, continued their efforts. Today, the focus has been on smaller roads and inner lanes,” he added.
Abdullah acknowledged the dedication of both departments for their on-ground efforts.
