An Army man was killed and four others, including a captain, injured when the security forces thwarted an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) on Saturday in the Kamakari sector of Kupwara district, news agency PTI quoted military sources as saying.
Earlier reports said hat three army troopers were injured during exchange of fire at Kumkarib post near LoC in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.
Officials told GNS that an infiltration bid from the Pakistani side was foiled by security forces at Kumkarib post. During firefight, three army soldiers were injured. They were immediately shifted to nearby hospital, where from they were evacuated to 92 Base Hospital for advanced treatment.
Operation in the area was underway. A Pakistani militant was also killed in the exchange of fire.
The BAT typically consists of special forces personnel from the Pakistan Army along with militants.
