An army soldier lost his life due to an accidental discharge of his weapon on Saturday in Srinagar’s Rawalpora area, officials reported.
According to a senior police official, initial reports suggest the incident was unintentional; however, an investigation is ongoing to examine all possible factors.
The soldier, a member of a Road Opening Party (ROP), was performing routine duties when the incident occurred.
Police arrived promptly at the scene and have commenced an in-depth investigation, officials added.
