Senior advocate and former general secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, was arrested from his residence and booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA), officials reported on Thursday.
Bhat was detained at his home in the Rawalpora area of the city late Wednesday night and has since been transferred to Kathua jail in the Jammu region.
Bhat is the third senior functionary of the Bar Association to be arrested. Former Bar president Nazir Ahmad Ronga was detained last week and booked under the PSA, while another former president, Mian Abdul Qayoom, was arrested last month in connection with the 2020 killing of Advocate Babar Qadri.
