Srinagar:

Authorities in Handwara, North Kashmir, have suspended a forest employee for donning a Pheran while on duty.

The suspension order, issued by the Divisional Forest Officer Langate, stated that during a surprise inspection of the forest check-post in Langate, one of the forest officials was found wearing a ‘pheran’ resembling that of a shepherd.

The order emphasized that territorial forest officials are part of a disciplined force and are obligated to adhere to proper dress codes while on duty, especially at sensitive postings.

Furthermore, the letter stated that the forest guard under investigation has been placed under suspension and attached to the range office Rafiabad with immediate effect pending a departmental inquiry. The range officer Mawar is instructed to make internal arrangements to cover the duties of the suspended official until suitable staff is posted at the said check-post, as per the official order.
