The News Craving
NEWSCRAVING DESK:
Srinagar, July 9:
The authorities are turning a blind eye towards massive encroachments by non local scrap dealers in Central Kashmir area of Chadoora in Budgam.
Hundreds of scrap shops have come up on the government land near the newly established degree college in the area. A large number of heavy vehicles are seen picking the scrap through the day from the land which has resulted into public nuisance.
Interestingly the land has been earmarked by the local authorities to establish a bus stand to overcome the congestion of traffic on the main road.
Through the day the non local residents collect the scrap from around the town in their vehicles which interestingly bear the Jammu and Kashmir registration numbers. In league with some officials of the local administration, the non local residents have encroached several kanals of prime government land.
Local residents have asked the authorities that the encroachments from the government land should be removed. The scrap business is also being run from private land by the dealers who are seen parking their trucks on the empty land in an otherwise residential area.
” The authorities need to act tough against the encroachment of prime government land which has taken place just outside a newly established college. Some people are also extracting sand and gravel from the nearby river in the night hours which needs to be checked,” said a local resident Mushtaq Ahmad. He added that the noise of the vehicles has also caused a public nuisance in the area.
