Budgam, December 04: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police have arrested 08 persons and seized 08 vehicles in Budgam.
A police party of Police Station Budgam during overnight patrolling at Mamath seized 06 tippers & arrested 06 persons on spot. The arrested persons have been identified as Mohd Abass Mir son of Mohd Akber Mir resident of Allahpora, Ishfaq Ahmad Paul son of Ab Rashid Paul resident of Sheikhpora, Danish Bashir Teli son of Bashir Ahmed Teli resident of Ompora, Mohd Ashraf Ganie son of Mohd Akbar Ganie resident of Ompora, Jamsheed Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmed Dar resident of Najan Beerwah and Zeeshan Abass Teli son of Manzoor Ahmad Teli resident of Wahabpora.
Similarly, a police party of Police Station Chadoora raided at Kultreh Chadoora and seized 01 JCB & 01 Tipper besides, arrested their drivers who were found extracting soil illegally from Government land at Kultreh. The arrested drivers were subsequently identified as Tanveer Ahmad Naik son of Ghulam Mohammad Naik resident of Trana Banihal and Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Dar son of Ghulam Hassan Dar resident of Marval Pulwama.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and investigation have been taken up.
Pertinently, During the current year 92 FIRs were registered, 238 persons were arrested and 211 vehicles were seized for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in district Budgam as per following nomenclature:
Police Station Budgam:- 32 cases,70 Persons arrested, 62 Vehicle seized
Police Station Khansahib:- 09 cases,14 Persons arrested, 14 Vehicle seized
Police Station Magam:- 06 cases,28 Persons arrested, 11 Vehicle seized
Police Station Beerwah:- 39 cases,85 Persons arrested, 88 Vehicle seized
Police Station Khag:- 01 Vehicles cases,04 Persons arrested, 04 Vehicle seized
Police Station Chadoora:- 15 cases,37 Persons arrested, 32 Vehicle seized
Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
