LG Manoj Sinha has stated that the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls would be conducted before September.

In an interview with TV9 Network, he emphasized that his focus remains on Jammu and Kashmir, dismissing any plans to contest Parliamentary polls from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.

Sinha confirmed that Lok Sabha elections in the region would align with the pan-India schedule, with the Election Commission slated to visit on March 12 to assess readiness.

Regarding Assembly elections, Sinha assured they would occur before September, coinciding with statehood restoration at an appropriate juncture, while noting the Election Commission’s responsibility for conducting them.

He also reiterated the government’s firm stance on negotiations with Pakistan, citing no talks until Pakistan alters its approach.
