J&K gears up to provide accommodations to Ministers, officers asked to vacate bungalows

The Jammu and Kashmir government has directed several top officials to vacate their current ministerial bungalows in preparation for the formation of a new cabinet next month. The order, issued by Alok Kumar, IRS, Principal Secretary to the Government, has been issued for the allocation of these quarters for incoming ministers.

In Government Order No. 222 EST(KMR) of 2024, nine senior officers currently residing in these bungalows have been asked to move out to make way for the new ministers. The officials include Dheeraj Gupta (IAS), Financial Commissioner of the Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment; Alok Kumar (IRS), Principal Secretary for Higher Education, School Education, and Estates; Chandraker Sharti (IAS), Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department; and S.S. Singh Jamwal (IPS), ADGP, UT of Ladakh, among others.

These officers will receive alternative accommodations based on their rank and seniority. The government is finalizing arrangements ahead of the expected swearing-in of new ministers next month.
