The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Srinagar is seeking to start joint courses with French educational institutions.
A beginning was made towards that effort as a French delegation on Friday met with faculty members and officials of he NIFT Srinagar.
The meeting explored possible cooperation between the NIFT Srinagar and the higher educational institutions in France.
The team comprised Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens, Counselor for Education, Science and Culture at Embassy of France in India (COCAC), also Country Director, French Institute in India and Dr Nicolas Gherardi, Deputy Counselor for Education, Science and Culture at Embassy of France in India (COCAC).
Director NIFT Srinagar, Dr Javid Ahmad Wani, highlighted the institute’s academic and professional accomplishments through his presentation.
The delegation elaborated on the kind of collaborative projects that can be extended to the NIFT. The interaction mainly focused on dual degree programmes, short- and long-term student exchange programmes, a French tutor on campus programme, and faculty and student mobility grants.
The delegation members emphasized their desire to help the NIFT in different exchange programmes as well as training programmes through which new courses may be jointly offered. The students will get to studying a part of the course here and as well as a French institution.
The collaborative projects will be explored in the disciplines of fashion communication and fashion design, as well as the humanities and languages, the delegates said.
They also indicated a desire in working together to establish French language classes and to expand the tutor on campus programme to conduct short-term French language courses.
