Srinagar, Oct 5:

On Thursday, Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta revealed that during previous administrations in Jammu and Kashmir, more than 250,000 jobs were awarded through illegal means.

Expressing his regret, Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta made this statement during an event in Kupwara, north Kashmir. He emphasized the commitment of the current administration, led by the Lieutenant Governor, to offer legitimate employment opportunities to educated youth while putting an end to unauthorized and clandestine appointments. He firmly asserted that no jobs would be granted through clandestine methods and that underprivileged individuals who had been marginalized in the past would now receive their rightful employment opportunities.

Dr. Mehta also addressed the false claims circulating about the government discontinuing recruitment processes, asserting that 30,000 jobs had been provided to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir over the past three years. He underscored the government’s departure from nepotism and corruption in job allocation, emphasizing that deserving candidates would now be granted their due rights. Simultaneously, he encouraged those who did not qualify for government positions to explore alternative livelihood options, suggesting that engaging in entrepreneurship might be a more viable choice than relying on daily wage employment.
