Prominent writer Inayat Gul receives Tak Zainagiri award, Mushtaq Mehram feted too

Tributes were paid to the noted philanthropist, poet, and researcher, and founder of Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Trust, late Ab. Khaliq Tak Zaingiri, on his 35th death anniversary at an impressive function held at Banat Institute of Education, Gopalpora, Chadoora.

The function was organized by Kashmir Concern Foundation (KCF), headed by noted social activist Adv. Ab. Rashid Hanjura. Zahoor Ahmad Tak, Chairman of Banat Institute of Education, who oversees Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Trust following the demise of his father Abdul Khaliq Tak Zaingiri, Pres. Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Mohd Amin Bhat, Chairman of Ahata Waqar Chanapora Ab. Gani Parray, noted writer Shamshad Kralwari, and veteran journalist Nazim Nazir shared the presidium.

Adv. Ab. Rashid Hanjura presented the welcome address and thanked the audience, including a galaxy of writers, poets, social activists, and students of Banat Institute of Education, for participating in the function. He urged the younger generation to promote the mother tongue for preserving our identity and legacy. He paid rich tributes to late Tak Zaingiri and highlighted his contribution to the socio-cultural awakening of the society and his selfless service to humanity. He urged the people, especially the youth, to carry forward Tak Saab’s legacy of serving humanity. He also highlighted his literary works, especially his book “Kashur Allaqa wad Phera,” and emphasized the necessity to reprint the book.

Zahoor Ahmad Tak also spoke on the occasion, stating that late Tak Zaingiri laid the foundation of one of the biggest and most reputed Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Trust in 1963, which continues to heal the wounds and miseries of thousands of widows and orphans for the last 64 years. After rendering tremendous valuable service to downtrodden sections of the society, especially widows, orphans, and destitute, Tak Zaingiri left this world on 24th July 1989. He described late Tak Zaingiri as a multifaceted personality – a social activist and a prominent writer, and he said that the best way to pay homage to Tak Saab would be to carry forward his socio-cultural legacy.

Nazim Nazir, senior staffer of the Urdu daily newspaper Tameel Irshad, and Mohd Amin Bhat also paid tribute to late Tak Zaingiri and praised the efforts of Ab. Rashid Hanjura, his son-in-law, for carrying forward his legacy to nurture orphans and widows with vigor and passion under the banner of Islamic Relief and Research. They urged the students to promote and preserve their mother tongue and cultural heritage.

On this occasion, Tak Zaingiri awards were given to prominent writers, including Dr. Sohan Koul and Inayat Gul. Similarly, Hasrat Hameed received the Shamasfaqeer award, Mrs. Zareena Baji the Habakhatoon award, Ab. Ahad Gulshan the Shiekhul Alam Award, Dr. Bashir Gamgeen the Ab Ahad Azad Award, and Late Haji Gh Rasool Hur the Maqbool Shah Kralwari Award. Journalists who received awards included Nazim Nazeer, Editor of the newspaper Tameel Irshad, Sofi Sajad of Meraj Din Srinagar Times, and Ashiq Maqbool of Ukoon News.

On this occasion, five new poetic collections were also released, including “Shihij Boonie” by Naem Kashmiri, “Cheshma Irfaan” by Late Gias ud Din Gias of Rupwan, “Partavi Iqbal & Khoeni Lalanavem Khushguftaar” by Assad Ullah Assad, and “Aamadi Bahaar” by Dr. Bashir Ahmad Gamgeen. An impressive Hussaini Mehfil-e-Mushaira was held, attended by a galaxy of prominent poets who presented their poems in honor of Hazrat Imam Hussain ra., including Muneer Sarai Bali, Inayat Gul, Mushtaq Mehram, Ali Ahsan, Mohd Yaseen Madhosh, Nazir Salik, Ab. Rehman Lateef, Naem Kashmiri, Mehda Mir, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Gamgeen, Yaseen Darigami, Reyaz Ahmad Shah, Peer Mohi ud din Borwa, Mubarak, Ah Mubarak, Zareena Gazi, Gh. Mohd Sheikh, Gh. Nabi Adfar, Dr. Wahid Raza, and Syed Farhat.

The students of Banat Education Institute also presented a colorful cultural program on the occasion. Dr. Waheed Raza conducted the proceedings of the function.
