The Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of 13 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to enhance educational access in the region.
In the Jammu division, the new KVs will be located in:
- Ramban District: Gool
- Kathua District: Bani and Ramkote
- Reasi District: Reasi and Kakriyal Katra
- Kishtwar District: Mughal Maidan
- Poonch District: Gulpur
- Samba District: Vijaypur
- Udhampur District: Panchari
In the Kashmir Valley, the approved KVs will be set up in:
- Kupwara District: Drugmulla
- Pulwama District: Ratnipora and Galander Chandhara
Jammu and Kashmir has received the highest allocation of new Kendriya Vidyalayas among all states and Union Territories in India.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritizing education in the Union Territory.
“Thanks PM Sh @narendramodi ji for giving special consideration to Jammu and Kashmir. The Union Cabinet approves 13 new Kendriya Vidyalayas for different locations across J&K, out of which over 50% fall in the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency,” Dr. Singh wrote. (KNO)
