Those who aimed to damage National Conference have been defeated: Omar

Former Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah, Tuesday said that those who sought to weaken the NC were instead defeated by the voters’ decision.

“I thank the people of Budgam for their overwhelming support. Those who entered the field with the intention of destroying the NC have been swept away by the people’s verdict,” Omar said, addressing reporters in Budgam, as reported by the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), after after securing a victory in Budgam on Tuesday.

Omar Abdullah, who won from both Budgam and Ganderbal constituencies, emphasized that the large mandate given to NC is now a significant responsibility. “We must repay this trust by addressing the people’s demands,” he added.

The NC nearly swept the elections in Kashmir, winning around 30 seats, with votes on several more still being counted. Meanwhile, the BJP emerged as the largest party in Jammu, securing over 28 seats.
