A top educationist of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district whose family faced a tough time arranging a ventilator in New Delhi continues to remain in a critical condition.
After running from pillar to post, the patient finally managed to get a ventilator bed yesterday at New Delhi’s Lok Nayak hospital through a family doctor who is posted there.
After an overwhelming support from several quarters as the story was shared widely on social media, the family managed to shift their patient from the Max hospital in Ghaziabad. The family raised concerns over the treatment at the private hospital for which the hospital charged nearly Rs 12 lakh.
A senior doctor at the Lok Nayak hospital said that the patient was attended by doctors in an Intensive Care Unit.
” The doctors have informed us that there will be a fast recovery once the patient responds to the antibiotics,” said his son-in-law , Touseef Qadri.
A retired zonal educational officer (ZEO), Mohammad Muzafar Haji, resident of Charar-i-Sharief area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district was admitted to the Max hospital and operated on cervical and lumbar spine on 3 December. Seen as a polymath, he is considered to be one of the towering scholars of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district who had flair to engage people for hours in a discussion on “almost everything.”
He could talk at length on religion and his mainstays were Urdu poetry. He believed in an idea of “syncretism” and lived a mystic life.
A teacher of par-excellence, he would always strive to impart education even after his retirement through his powerful arguments. He however lived a modest life all through and is known to have battled tough times. His daughter died at a young age in a distressful malignant condition at hospital in Srinagar. His three daughters have been living in a terrible state after the ordeal of the family.
Earlier the family had referred the patient for basic medical care for back ache issues to the Max hospital in Ghaziabad.
The family said that patient was informed that he has developed lung infection at the hospital and his condition deteriorated at the hospital immediately after he was operated there.
