Srinagar,
The International Forum For Justice Human Rights JK (IFJHRJK) on Friday strongly condemned the mowing down of a woman in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district under an army vehicle. The woman was crushed under the tyre of the vehicle, IFJHRJK said.
In a statement, the chairman of the IFJHRJK, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, said that this is not the first such incident of its kind. He said there are scores of such incidents in Kashmir where army overran people and killed them without any accountability.
Untoo said that the complete “impunity to the army has emboldened them and they keep on repeating these crimes.” He said that whenever the locals have protested “against such incidents, the army has showered them with bullets.”
He said that in September, an eight year old girl was hit by an army vehicle in Kupwara and she sustained critical head injuries. He added that the “Indian armed forces need to be held accountable for such crimes and they be brought to justice.”
“Indian armed forces, with all its impunity and thick layer of protective laws are emboldened” due to which such incidents recur.
