Police foil Fidayeen attack in Srinagar with killing of Mujahdeen Gazwatul Hind militant

Police have foiled a major Fidayeen attack with the killing of one militant of Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind.

Identified as Aamir Riyaz of Khrew, Pulwama, he was affiliated with Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind and is a relative of one of the accused of  Lethpora attack. Inspector General of Police, K Vijay Kumar, said that the militant was assigned to carry out fidayeen attack. Earlier in a viral post by the militant outfit, it said that the action in Bemina was intended to carry out a fidyeen attack on premilitary CRPF and police. 

Earlier Kashmir police Zone on its official Twitter handle wrote, “SrinagarEncounterUpdate: 01 unidentified militant killed. 01 AK rifle alongwith ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow”.

Earlier a gunfight had started between militants and government forces in  the area. A joint team of Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Bemina. As the joint team of forces encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
