PM Modi arrives in Jammu on maiden visit after Article 370 abrogation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched down in Jammu heading straight to the MA Stadium where a large gathering awaited his address. This marks Modi’s maiden visit to Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of the special status accorded to the erstwhile state under Article 370.

PM Modi is set to kick-start a slew of developmental projects valued at over Rs 32,000 crore from the MA Stadium. Modi will also launch the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir and inaugurate several railway projects, issue appointment letters, and interact with beneficiaries of governmental schemes.

The railway projects include the Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan section featuring Ballast Less Track (BLT) technology and India’s longest transportation tunnel.

In addition, Modi will personally hand over appointment letters to 1500 newly recruited government employees and launch a rally to commence the BJP’s electoral campaign. Further highlights of his agenda include the inauguration of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur and the initiation of a new terminal building project at Jammu Airport.

The engagements extend to the inauguration of various projects spanning healthcare, education, transportation, and urban infrastructure, collectively valued at over Rs 32,000 crore including the establishment of educational institutions like IITs, IIMs, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and enhancements in road infrastructure.
